Implementation of NDCA’s Code of Ethics Akemi L. Stout Grand Canyon University: LDR 800 October 23, 2011 Introduction â€Å"Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier† (Powell, 2007) Codes of ethics are guidelines provided by business entities to communicate to the subordinates the beliefs, values, missions and overall perspectives of what the company or organization is about. In this paper, I will give my ideas of how I feel my code of ethics should be best implemented. In doing so, I will discuss its relevancy to other documents that are included in the code, a strategy of communicating it to all stakeholders, enforcing it, and a strategy for evaluation of revisions. As stated earlier, unethical behavior will be taken seriously and will be considered a major issue. Evaluation for Effectiveness Trevino states, â€Å"There is profound support showing that codes of ethics are extremely usefu l tools in most circumstances, but they occasionally fail to eliminate unethical behavior† (Trevino amp; Weaver, 2003). Because there is no real way of determining whether the persons hired will potentially participate in unethical behavior, we will have to conduct monthly meetings to discuss issues of ethics. Such as with many companies, this procedure is seen to be time consuming, but with NDCA, this is a will be a part of each Monday Morning ritual for those in management. Any issues that are not brought forth before upper level management within seven days of receiving a complaint will be considered to be resolved. However, as Steve Jobs of Apple, Inc. wanted to leave nothing to chance, I will also set forth provisions that enable me to able to see what issues have been brought to management through the use of an intranet system that is password protected and encrypted due to confidentiality laws. Why Time Management Important - 1090 Words

Why is time management important? It is important because it is the basis to begin living a successful life and make your dreams come true. Time management is defined as effectively using the minutes, hours, and days available to you in order to accomplish your goals in the most effective way. Time itself can not be managed. It is constant and it always goes forward, never goes backwards, Everyone has the same amount of time in a day. Therefore, if you are managing time, you are not trying to manipulate time, you are trying to make the best use of your time. For this week, I spent 18.6% in the school related section. During that time I am at school and staying up late doing homework. I was at work for 17.4% of the week. For personal time, I spent 14.4% of my time socializing and watching television. In the health-related section I spent 50% of my time eating, showering, and sleeping. This week was a non-typical week. First of all, we had one day off which was Monday because of Presidents Day. My school related section would of been a higher percentage if we would have went to school on Monday. Then my health-related section would of had a lower percentage for sleep because I would have had to waken up earlier for school on Monday, but we did not have school. Many employees have been effected from such setting in the workplace, but they are unaware of the effects since they take many years to develop fully. Another type of electronic monitoring that can damage an employee†s health is video surveillance. Video surveillance has existed in the work place since the invention of the television. Video surveillance cameras come in all shapes and sizes, from the obvious ones to some that are small as a dime. Many employers purchase such devices to capture employees and customers who commit theft and fraud, or any other illegal activity. The increase of technology in electronic monitoring is now able to transfer images from a camera to a computer where the employer is able to zoom in and make a positive identity of the employee or customer who is committing an illegal act. This type of monitoring is also to make an employee feel under pressure in hoping â€Å"to enhance employee productivity and quality assurance,† (Ternipsede 447) which serves as a benefit to the employee, employer, and customer. However, many employees do not notice the effects of video surveillance has on their health since there only concern is getting there work done and making their employer happy. One other type of surveillance that causes health risk to the employee is an active badge. Active badges are another type of the latest innovations in electronic monitoring and one of the most controversial types of employee monitoring. The active badges are the size of a credit card that is worn on the outside of the clothing. It keeps track where the employee goes by infrared sensors that are located through out the workplace. Many employer†s who promote this type of electronic monitoring argue that it saves time when having to track someone down. They also argue that it is more of a private way of needing to speak to an employee privately, instead of having to announce their name over the intercom. These active badges also have their negative effects on an employee since they feel entrapped in their workplace because they know that someone else always know where they are. It makes an individual feel like they are in prison, except that they are not secured into their workplace by bars and concrete walls. This type of electronic monitoring is one of the most controversial because it is a new way to invade an individual privacy, without the exception of cameras and monitors. Employers have a right to know whether their employees are on task, however when it infringes on the employees privacy and causes health effects it has gone to far. The employers have the responsibility to hire trustworthy employees and make sure they do their job, not tracking every move they make. As technology advances, business management gets lazier and new monitoring devices pose a threat to employees. The employees well being should be considered before implementing any monitoring systems. Therefore, who knows what electronic monitoring will hold in the future, but will it become so sophisticated that it will cause an employee to choose not to work and live off the government?
